Grrrr...

I thought that I would take a minute to do what I do best. Whine. As you all know, I would LOVE to be a full-time stay at home mom. I am envious of all of you who get to do that. This Park family though, we don't have that luxury. I have to say though, that I am very happy that I only have to work two days a week instead of full-time. I get to be with my baby boy 5 days out of the week.

My schedule is 6:30 am to 3 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays. I am on-call Tuesday and Friday nights from 11 pm to 7 am the next morning. I am also on-call every 5th Saturday or Sunday, whichever weekend day they decide to put me on. As much as I don't work, I feel that I am always there.

Well, my point to all of this is....I HATE CALL!! Last night I was there from 11 pm to 5:30 am. I was awake for 24 hours! I am so tired....I probably shouldn't be blogging at 10:30 pm on the night before Thanksgiving, which I'm on-call all day tomorrow...like I said, I hate it. It makes me really unhappy. This past Friday night I was on-call, but I had a guy I work with take it for me and he was there from 12 am to 7 am, so if I hadn't had him take my call, I would've had two nights of endless hell. I am so grateful for Kevin for taking that shift. I just can't wait until Dave makes enough for me not to work.

I guess I have to look at it as a rewarding job to keep me from exploding. I see the patient come back and how much pain they are in and I am so happy to know that I helped better that person's life. I don't think the patients realize how much the Surgical Tech does. I was holding someone's dead bowel last night while I assisted the surgeon doing a bowel resection. I helped on a Carotid Endarterectomy 2 weeks ago on call! Talk about awesome...yet the stress and tiredness of the job has me worn down and has left me with no more enthusiasam. I did a 22 hour shift when I was 8 months pregnant. At 4 in the morning I was bawling because some equipment we had wasn't working and the surgeon was getting frustrated, but when he found out how long I'd been there, he was very nice about everything. Surgeons....they're fun. :)

I am just happy that I have a husband who is patient enough to let me b---- and moan about my job. Sorry everyone...I feel better now that I've admitted hating working.

Twilight

Kelli and I waiting for the movie to start

Angie, Gina and Cindy having a blast

Here are our feet!!

Our outrageous pajamas! Hey, we'll never forget this moment!

Angie, Me, Gina, Mom and Cindy

My Aunt Linda called my mom 4 months ago and told us that her daughter's friend had rent out a movie theater for the midnight showing of Twilight. My mom got 6 tickets so Gina and I got to invite two friends to come with us and my sister-in-law Angie got to go. We invited Cindy and I invited Kelli. We had a blast. Kellie and I went to Wal-Mart before the movie to get some 88 cent candy for the movie. We heard one girl say, "Oh my Gosh, those girls are in their pajamas." Well, DUH!! Of coarse Kelli and I were the only ones in pajamas at the theater...okay, the only ones in footsie pajamas, but what the heck! We were so excited! We were all skeptical about how Edward would be considering we didn't think they did a good job with picking the actor to play him. He did very well!! I didn't like Bella though. I thought she was a lame actress that didn't show any emotion. I swore when the movie ended it had only been going for an hour, but it was about an hour and 50 minutes, I think. It kept us entertained and I am excited to go see it again on Saturday night!

Surgery Update

Carson's elephant that mom and dad bought him after his surgery

Here is Carson in the other closet making a mess...if that's possible. I think they put in tubes that made him more energetic!

Here is Carson back to normal after his 3 hour nap...hiding in his closet

This is Carson before going back into surgery. His nurse, Irene made him a balloon out of a glove and drew a face on it.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that Carson is doing awesome. I went back with him into the operating room to hold him while he squirmed to sleep. After he was asleep the surgery took 15-20 minutes and he was back with us within 30 minutes. He was crying really hard and it took about an hour to get him to calm down. He just didn't understand why he felt the way he did and he was disoriented. After we left the hospital and got into our familiar car and got home, he was everywhere! He was so happy to be home. He took a nap for 3 hours and then we was back to being his old self again...but happier. He's not holding his head while he coughs or swallows anymore. He seems to have more energy even! We are really happy with our decision to put tubes in his ears. I just want to thank everyone who has asked about him, called, stopped by or emailed to us to check on him. We love you all! Thanks for being such awesome friends and family.

Our 4th Year Anniversary...And Then Some

Today is mine and Dave's 4th year anniversary. Dave's sister Noel works for Anniversary Inn and got us a great deal for the Romeo and Juliet Suite. It was awesome! I totally forgot my camera and I was so upset, but I am sure I can find some pictures of it online to show. Noel decorated our room with rose petals, candles, massage oil, a bath fizz, Hershey kisses and Anniversary Inn mint truffles. We had cheesecake in the fridge and sparkling apple cider on ice. I also got a movie package that came with popcorn and two choices of drinks and candy. We saw everything we had and then we regretted pigging out at the Rodizo Grill. We had so much stuff to eat! I got Dave and I "The Office: Season 2" for a gift because that is one of our favorite pastimes as a married couple. We freaking love that show! I laugh so hard!

Here is the link to check out the room, if anyone is interested. http://www.anniversaryinn.com/rooms.php?room=67

Then the next day...we bought a car. A purple car. Talk about one night of worry-free romance to reality bitting you in the as....butt!

Tubes

This is what my mayo stand would sort of look like if I set it up at work

This is a fun picture I found showing everyone the tube being place into the eardrum

Hey Everyone! I just wanted to tell you guys that Carson is getting tubes in his ears on Wednesday November 19. We took him to see the the ENT doctor yesterday and he looked in his ears and saw fluid. The fluid keeps getting infected and he told us that it would be a long and hard winter for Carson. I am really happy about it and so is Dave. I have scrubbed in on these surgeries so it is so nice to know step by step on how everything works. I called Dave up yesterday after we had taken him in and Dave went to vote and I was teary eyed. I don't think that we would be human if we weren't nervous.

This will be a good thing. He goes in at 7:30 am and we'll be about to see him about 8-8:30, so he won't be away from us long. I also get to go back and hold his hand while they put him under anesthesia, so I am happy to do that as well. I may see if Dave wants to come back. I can steal him a pair of scrubs. :) Please keep Carson in your prayers!

TCU vs. Utah

Dave and I were very, very fortunate to get some TCU vs. Utah tickets from my dad. It was an incredible game. It was frustrating, but incredible! I loved the atmosphere and the sight of everyone wearing black. I got some cool pictures, but as soon as everyone rushed the field, my camera went dead! That sucks!
Go Utes!!!

Our Snowman

Mom and Carson with our snowman!

Mr. Snowman

Carson and I were tired of being couped up all morning because of the snow, so we (meaning I)decided that it would be fun to make a snowman. We used branches for the arms, Hersey candy bars for the eyes and a carrot for the nose. All of our winter clothes were packed up so the only thing I could find was a hat. It was a fun 10 minute activity...and my hands were freezing!! It was perfect packing snow so it was really easy. Aunt Gina came at the perfect time to take pictures of us with our new friend!
